Barks & Recreation – Dog Walking & Dog Care

We want you to feel confident leaving your dog in our care. By booking with us, you agree to the following terms so we can keep things safe, fair, and transparent for everyone:

Our Services

  • We provide dog walking and dog care, including feeding, playtime, and administering medication (if agreed in advance).

  • Extra requests can be discussed but must be confirmed beforehand.

Your Responsibilities

  • Your dog must be up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick prevention, and worming.

  • Please let us know about any health issues, behaviours, or special needs your dog has.

  • You must provide all essentials we’ll need (collar, lead, harness, ID tag, food, medication, etc.).

Safety First

  • We will always prioritise your dog’s wellbeing, but we may stop a walk or service if your dog’s behaviour poses a risk to themselves, others, or our team.

  • Dogs must wear a secure collar or harness with an ID tag during walks.

  • In an emergency, we’ll take your dog to the nearest vet and contact you immediately. Veterinary costs remain your responsibility.

Bookings, Payments & Cancellations

  • All bookings must be confirmed in advance.

  • Payment is due 24 hours prior to your booking.

  • If you need to cancel, please give us at least 24 hours’ notice. Late cancellations may be charged in full.

  • We may cancel or reschedule walks due to severe weather, illness, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Liability

  • We are fully insured, but we cannot be held responsible for illness, injury, or incidents outside our reasonable control.

  • You are responsible for any costs or damages caused by your dog’s behaviour.

Emergencies

  • If we cannot reach you in an emergency, we will use our best judgment to ensure your dog’s safety and wellbeing.

Data Handling & Privacy (GDPR Compliance)

We take your privacy seriously and handle all personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • What Data We Collect: We may collect your contact details, emergency contact information, veterinary details, and relevant information about your dog (e.g. medical history, behaviour notes).

  • How We Use Your Data: Your data will only be used to provide our services safely and effectively, manage bookings, and contact you in case of an emergency.

  • Data Storage: All data is kept securely on password-protected systems and/or locked storage. Only authorised personnel have access.

  • Sharing Data: We do not share your personal data with third parties, except where required (e.g. emergency veterinary care or legal obligations).

  • Data Retention: We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide our services and meet legal or insurance requirements.

  • Your Rights: You have the right to request access, correction, or deletion of your data at any time. You also have the right to withdraw consent to data processing.

  • Complaints: If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you may contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

  • Squarespace complies with GDPR, and for users in the UK, they use Standard Contractual Clauses and other legal mechanisms when transferring personal data outside these areas.

  • They are certified under the U.S.-UK Data Privacy Frameworks.
